The site was a family house based in the Kingston area, south London.

The existing family house was outdated, cramped and didn't allow the family to feel comfortable due to the lack of glazing and natural lighting entering the house. Gestalt Developments reviewed a number of different designs with the family to achieve the best solution to their needs and maximise the site's full potential.

We came up with a proposal to extend the rear of the house, both on the ground floor and partly on the first floor, allowing a large open plan double living area and kitchen space with enough glazing to allow natural lighting to penetrate the whole ground floor. The proposal also included converting the unused loft into a habitable bedroom with an additional bathroom, which the family loved. We also proposed a full refurbishment of the existing house, allowing a fresh and modern update setting including a new kitchen, furniture, lighting and bespoke shelving to facilitate the family's everyday needs.

We had to be careful to not overdevelop the existing site and to make sure that each addition to the house worked well together and allowed maximum function to each proposed space. We are proud to say we were able to get the original design proposed completed and approved by the local planning authority within six weeks of the initial discussion with the family. The completion of all the works took no longer than six months, thanks to the management and exceptional work with our construction partners, Elite Trading & Services.
